MdTL Trustee Selection Process

The Trustee selection process is an ongoing exercise aimed at continually identifying strategic Board needs and inviting committed candidates with applicable skills and expertise to serve.

The Committee on Trustees (CoT) is responsible for identifying and cultivating capable nominees for the Board of Trustees. The CoT regularly meets with candidates to explore their interest and availability. Candidates are nominated annually to the Executive Committee for consideration and are then vetted into a final slate which is presented to the full Board for approval by the end of the school year, or whenever there is a Board vacancy needing to be filled.

Trustee terms are consistent with our school fiscal year (July 1 through June 30), and a typical Board term is 3 years. Trustees often serve 2 consecutive terms.

Typical channels for service include all major community volunteer roles at MdTL: Parents Association, Development Committee, Annual Fund Committee, Auction Committee, Room Parents, Green Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, and Communications Committee.

Trustees have demonstrated a commitment to MdTL and a willingness to donate time and energy to accomplishing the strategic mission of the Board. We thank our current Trustees for their time and focus, and welcome community members interested in serving to explore the committees and groups above and/or contact Parth Banker, Committee on Trustees Chair, for further information.
