Montessori de Terra Linda offers this cozy class for 12 children per day, guided by an experienced Head Teacher and an assistant. The children themselves call this “The Special Little Room.” “I did it!” is the most commonly heard expression coming from the children throughout their busy day.
Our Montessori Pre-Primary classroom is designed to meet the developmental needs of the 2 to 3 year old. The young child has a very strong sense of order, a great desire for self-direction, and a preference for parallel (side by side) play. The classroom is thoughtfully prepared with this in mind, allowing the child to explore and learn in a secure and loving environment. The furniture and equipment are sized to help foster independence.
Activities are attractively displayed on shelves that stimulate and nourish the small child’s sensorial need to smell, touch, hear, see and taste. “Practical Life” materials show the children how to care for themselves, respect one another, and their environment. Language acquisition, cognitive skills, art and music, as well as Spanish are all practiced daily. The children love to run and climb and enjoy sand and water play on our spacious playground. They learn to garden and to appreciate the beauty of the natural world around them.
Our Pre-Primary classroom is a bilingual Spanish program. We offer half day and all day program options.
