MdTL FUNDRAISING
-
The Annual Fund Drive
Our commitment to a high quality Montessori education guides everything we do and is the reason we maintain our beautiful, well-equipped
classrooms and our creative programs. The funds raised through the
Annual Fund allow us to continue and further our program excellence,
ensure appropriate staff compensation and maintain the diversity of our
student population. The Annual Fund comprises 7% of the annual
operating expenses of the school. Gifts are tax deductible and are
crucial to the operating health of our school. We strive for 100%
parent participation to show that our immediate community stands behind
our mission. To recognize and encourage leadership giving to the Annual
Fund, the school has established the following top levels of
recognition:
- Sponsors Club between $ 1,000 and $2,499
- Benefactors Club between $ 2,500 and $4,999
- Leadership Club $ 5,000 and above
These donation members are listed in the Annual Report and invited to the Volunteer Appreciation Party in June, sponsored by the school.
To participate in this program, you will not have to buy, sell or
volunteer for any projects - we simply ask every family to assist the
MdTL program with a donation at some level above and beyond their
tuition fees. A reasonable guideline for giving at many schools is one
month's tuition. Please consider this amount when making your
contribution this year. This allows us to fund our expanding high
quality programs, while maintaining base charges that are accessible to
more families.
-
The Annual Auction
The Annual Auction promises to uphold the tradition of being the highlight event of the entire school year. The food, spirits, dancing, laughter and auction entertainment are only topped by the incredible assortment of donated items and class art projects on which to bid.
The entire MdTL community is asked to consider a one-of-a-kind item to
donate to our event, in addition of course to attending, sponsoring
tables, inviting friends and bidding enthusiastically! We highly
recommend all parents attend this event, as the fun atmosphere and the
strong sense of community that is fundamental to the success of the
auction will truly warm you.
-
Marin Human Race
The annual Marin Human Race replaced our Sally Foster program last year and was a huge success in its first year. We were able to reach our goal right out of the gate. We are hoping to receive a commitment of all the students and families to participate and solicit donations for the
event. 90% of donations generated are given directly back to the school.
-
Annual Pancake Breakfast
up a mid-winter morning and join all MdTL families and friends for the
Annual Pancake Breakfast. This year we will have a change of venue and
enjoy more space at the Terra Linda Recreation Center located a 1/2
block from school. The entire family will enjoy a full breakfast with
all the trimmings.

Shop-for-Funds
-
eScrip
Every
family at MdTL is encouraged to sign up for eScrip, which raises money
for MdTL through your normal purchases at participating merchants at no
cost to our parents. MdTL raised $4,200 last year from this program,
and we would like to double that figure with greater participation.
Sign-up forms are available at the front office all year long. Please
be sure to return to the website annually to confirm/correct your
credit card information.
-
School Pop
Like eScrip, SchoolPOP is a way to raise funds for MdTL through retail and online purchases. Parents are requested to log on to www.schoolpop.com and register their credit cards and shop online at hundreds of major retailers. Up to 18% of the purchase price to go to MdTL's fundraising program.
-
Upromise
Upromise is also an option for families to make their on-line purchases counttowards our fundraising goals. Each family must register at www.upromise.com and shop through the Upromise website to generate the
contributions. Upromise also offers contributions from local business
such as some popular Marin/San Francisco restaurants and services like
real estate and home mortgage. We are offering both Upromise and
SchoolPop because we understand the people have different online habits
and we want to make this as easy as possible. And as profitable.
-
For Small Hands
As a national supplier of quality Montessori materials For Small Hands
holds a seasonal fund-raising opportunity for our school to earn
merchandise credit when parents and friends place an order using our
school code #115001. 10% of the sales from the orders place between
October 1, 2007 and December 31, 2007 will be given to the school to
purchase additional materials for the classrooms.
The Primary Teachers have also created a Top Ten List of items from the
catalog that they would enjoy adding to their classroom materials. When
placing your order please consider grabbing a tag from the board above
the sign-in table and adding it to your order. Each list is grouped by
teacher.
-
Gifts in Kind
In addition to their cash contributions, many families give gifts in kind. These may include professional services such as printing or carpentry
and items such as computers, furniture or artwork. These gifts in kind
are another way to help support MdTL and they are always used and
appreciated. Although we try to track all of the wonderful in-kind
gifts that the school receives we may not recognized everyone. Please
be sure to make a note of your in-kind donation, or the donation of
someone else, in the notebook located in the front office.
