The Parent Association (PA) of MdTL serves to build community through education and social events and provides a resource for parents to get involved and stay connected. We are fortunate to have a very active and diverse parent body that understands the importance of supporting the school, sharing their unique talents and connecting with other families.
The PA oversees several events throughout the year which give the families of MdTL an opportunity to come together as a community. We also hold periodic educational and informational meetings. In addition, the PA helps facilitate and support the transition to MdTL for new families and becomes a resource by providing information on how to become involved in supporting the distinct and rich environment at the school.
We strive to give our parent body ample opportunity to develop strong personal relationships that are integral to the success of the school.

Parent Association Events
New Parent Reception
The New Parent reception typically falls a week before the school year starts and provides an opportunity for MdTL parents, Board members, teachers and staff to welcome the incoming parents. The reception is held in the early evening at a private home with refreshments and hors d' oeuvres and plenty of lively conversation. This is a great way to meet and greet other new parents of our school community.
Back to School Coffee Social
This is a fun and informal way to connect with new and returning members of the parent body and the Head of School. It is usually held within the first two weeks of school right after morning drop-off on the patio in front of the Sanctuary. Coffee, tea and a delicious continental breakfast are available to keep you going while you chat during this relaxed and informal gathering.
The Holiday Party
Our annual Holiday Party is a great way to kick off the holiday season in a fun and festive atmosphere. Held in the evening, this parents-only event provides a nice opportunity to meet and mingle with both parents and staff of the school. Come toast the season with a glass of wine or a warm mug of spiced apple cider, hearty hors d' oeuvres and the great company of our MdTL community.
The Pancake Breakfast
Pancake Breakfast=Fun! This gathering is fun for kids and parents alike and has become a bright spot in the middle of winter for our families. Many volunteers organize, shop for and prepare a fabulous breakfast feast for our entire MdTL community. In 2009, we went organic and local with most of our food items and drastically reduced our waste by composting and bringing our own washable plates, utensils and mugs, bypassing the need for disposable paper products.
There is often some sort of live entertainment. In the past we've had a singer, clowns and even a reptile expert from East Bay Vivarium who thoroughly engaged and educated the entire crowd with a menagerie of creepies, crawlies and critters! We welcome family, friends, extended family, teachers and staff to this warm and wonderful gathering.
Staff Appreciation Luncheon
The Staff Appreciation Luncheon is a lovely way to thank the phenomenal teachers and staff at MdTL. A chairperson and a group of parent volunteers work together to make and serve a beautiful and delicious lunch for our well-deserving teachers and staff. This is a great way to share a favorite dish or just pitch in an hour or two to let them know how much we truly appreciate all they do for our children.
Marin Human Race
You don't have to be a world class runner; you just need a great attitude and a comfy pair of shoes to run or walk your way across the finish line of the Marin Human Race 5K. Don't feel like running? Sponsor another MdTL runner and/or just come out and enjoy the festivities of the community fair, kid's races, food and refreshments. It's a fun way to spend a beautiful morning in May!
PA Meetings
Throughout the course of the year the MdTL Parent Association holds periodic meetings to keep you abreast of school events and to share speakers we hope you find engaging or enlightening.
