Parent Association

The Parent Association (PA) of MdTL serves to build community through education and social events and provides a resource for parents to get involved and stay connected. We are fortunate to have a very active and diverse parent body that understands the importance of supporting the school, sharing their unique talents and connecting with other families.

The PA oversees several events throughout the year which give the families of MdTL an opportunity to come together as a community. We also hold periodic educational and informational meetings. In addition, the PA helps facilitate and support the transition to MdTL for new families and becomes a resource by providing information on how to become involved in supporting the distinct and rich environment at the school.

We strive to give our parent body ample opportunity to develop strong personal relationships that are integral to the success of the school.

The Parent Association welcomes you and invites you to get involved! Read more about our annual events and volunteer opportunities or tell us how you are interested in getting involved!

A sampling of events throughout the school year:

Halloween Festival

This popular event is for Primary and Pre-Primary students and run by the Elementary students with support from the Parents Association. It takes place at the school and involves festival games, face painting, a bake sale, and books for prizes! MdTL parents volunteer and help with bake sale, books, decorations, games, and more!

Pancake Breakfast

Pancake Breakfast = Fun! This gathering is fun for kids and parents alike and has become a bright spot in the middle of winter for our families. Many volunteers organize, shop for and prepare a fabulous breakfast feast for our entire MdTL community. In 2010, we went organic and local with most of our food items and drastically reduced our waste by composting and bringing our own washable plates, utensils and mugs, bypassing the need for disposable paper products.

In the past we've had a singer, clowns, the bubble man and even a reptile expert from East Bay Vivarium who thoroughly engaged and educated the entire crowd with a menagerie of creepies, crawlies and critters! We welcome family, friends, extended family, teachers and staff to this warm and wonderful gathering.

Book Fair

There are lots of books to buy and a love for reading is shared in this fun family event. Join us at a local bookshop, Book Passage, for an early evening event with storytelling, yummy treats, and lots of fun. Teacher wish lists are displayed if parents wish to contribute to their child's classroom library, and a percentage of all books purchased goes back to MdTL.

Staff Appreciation Lunch

The Staff Appreciation Luncheon is a lovely way to thank the phenomenal teachers and staff at MdTL. A chairperson and a group of parent volunteers work together to make and serve a beautiful and delicious lunch for our well-deserving teachers and staff. This is a great way to share a favorite dish or just pitch in an hour or two to let them know how much we truly appreciate all they do for our children.

End of Year BBQ

An energetic potluck style barbeque typically at a park or beach that allows families to celebrate the end of the school year.
