ADMISSIONS/APPLICATION PROCESS

  1. Attend an Open House: November 17, 2007, 10:00 - 12:00 or January, 12 2008, 10:00 - 12:00
We have two open houses each year. This is a time to visit our campus, hear an overview of our program and presentations by our teachers. This will answer enough of your questions for you to decide whether to proceed with the formal admissions process.

  2. Call us to schedule a tour and classroom observation:
Tours are held on most Wednesdays beginning in mid November at 8:45 AM and run about two hours. A complete packet of information is distributed at this time. It is very important for parents to view the program while school is in session. This gives prospective parents the opportunity to see the teacher-student relationship and Montessori philosophy firsthand. Choosing the right school is an important decision and the tour is an essential part of this process. We ask that you plan to tour during the school year prior to your child entering our program. Space is limited at each tour so you must call ahead to schedule a date.

  3. Submit an application:
Applications are accepted all year. There is a $70 non-refundable fee for each application for each year that you go through the admissions process. Priority deadline is January 31, 2008.

  4. We will call you in February to schedule a Child Visit:
The final step in the admissions process is an opportunity for your child to visit a classroom and interact with one of our teachers in a small group. This helps us determine if your child is ready for our program. In addition this helps us get to know your child's temperament and assists us with class placements.

Admissions preference is given in the following order:

    1. Siblings of current MdTL students, as well as siblings of past students who have completed the Full Primary or Elementary Cycle
    2. Children with previous Montessori experience
    3. New applicants

Montessori classrooms are designed for a three-year age mix to allow for both individual and social development. We strive to balance each class by age and gender, meeting Association Montessori International standards.

  5. Decisions Letters for 2 - 4 year olds are mailed to applicants on Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Decision letters for 5 - 11 year olds are mailed on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, in agreement with the Bay Area Directors of Admissions.
